He is a renowned tabla player and has received prestigious awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2023. Ghosh has participated in Grammy-winning albums, scored for 52 films, and earned multiple Filmfare and Global Music awards.
A pioneer in Indian fusion music, Ghosh founded the band "Rhythmscape" and has released numerous successful solo albums. He has performed at major global venues like Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. Key performances include the Commonwealth Games finale (2010) and UNESCO’s Tagore celebration (2012). In 2022, he co-composed music for India's 75th Independence celebration.
